Tatyanna and Todd opt for elegant

We're huge fans of TLC's show Four Weddings, aren't you? Lucky for us, actual brides who have taken part in the show are sharing their stories with us in this new series! Up today? Tatyanna Morris who wanted all shades of coral.

Planning the wedding

With my family as an integral part of the “Taty and Todd” committee, planning was a family affair. Every week we had meetings to see where we were in the planning process.

Our color scheme was "all shades of coral." We incorporated light pinks, peaches and oranges with ivory throughout the entire décor.

my shoes were $35 from kohl's!

Starting with invitations, we created a custom wedding logo to be used on all of the stationery at the wedding. Our invitations were custom designed on metallic gold paper with our logo centered as the focal point of the design.

The dress

To get a quality dress at an affordable price, I took the day off from work and headed down to NYC to attend the Kleinfeld Sample Sale at Kleinfeld Manhattan. After getting a number, waiting in line and trying on a handful of dresses, I walked out of the store with an ivory Alita Graham for Kleinfeld princess ball gown. The dress was gorgeous – it was a sweetheart neckline with bling covering the bust line, a corset in the back and full bottom.

My shoes were $35 from Kohl’s! They were silver peep toe stilettos covered in bling, just like my wedding dress. My elbow length veil was simple but elegant with minimal fabric. At the last minute, I ran to Michaels and found an ivory floral clip; it was the perfect way to polish off my look.

The ceremony

Guests arrived and took their “what’s your shade of coral?” place cards and left well wishes on our wishing peach tree. As they approached the outdoor space, they were greeted with a refreshing cold beverage and programs that could also be used as a fan.

The pergola was simple with white chiffon fabric draped at the top. Shepherds hooks lined the aisle with Mason jars holding white, peach, pink and coral blooms. The youngest flower girl walked the aisle with a “Here comes the bride” sign. We finished off the ceremony by “jumping the broom!”

Cocktail hour and reception

At the cocktail hour, we had Mason jars with peaches inside and we tied coral ribbon at the rim on some tables. At the reception, the tall centerpiece arrangements consisting of a large bloom at the top with white hydrangea, coral, peach and hot pink roses, stems of green hypericum berries and lemon leaves. Peaches were placed inside of the vases.

Guests were given flip flops so there was no excuse for non-dancers.

Shortly after, the dance floor opened and guests were given flip flops so that there would be no excuse for non-dancers!

When it was time for the garter retrieval, I was pleasantly surprised to have my own personal dance performance from my husband to Usher's “Nice and Slow,” followed by the bouquet toss and another comical dance performance from the groom’s younger brother who caught the garter. The whole performance was completely unplanned, but made the end of the night special.

Any advice?

Cherish your wedding day forever. Although there will be times when you may get frustrated along the way, always remember that this is a once in a lifetime experience, and it is worth every second of time and energy you put into it. Take your time, and don’t sell yourself short, because your wedding is worth every penny you spend on it.
