Spring is for lovers: Where to have a spring fling

Spring is a great time for a fling — or romancing your relationship! Here are some of our favorite spots to get in that mood and stay there.

Originally built as a monastery in 1621, it's anything but these days. The historic Sofitel Legend Cartagena Santa Clara is located in the heart of Cartagena de Indias with panoramic views over the Old Town and the Caribbean Sea. Each room offers its own personality with fresh white wash walls, natural wood ceilings and floors, soft neutral tones and splashes of soft corals, mints and turquoises.

Couples can also revive the romance or begin a new one at the spacious 8,611 square foot So Spa. It draws on healing traditions from ancient cultures around the world enhanced by the highest standard in skin care, Sisley Paris. After an indulgent treatment, guests can explore the spa’s Hammam, solarium, pool, fitness center and dedicated tea area.

Nashville is all about music, so if you’ve always dreamed of a little romance with a musician, Nashville is the place to go! The sweet/sensitive type may be found at places like the songwriter’s mecca Bluebird Cafe, the intimate venue 3rd & Lindsley, or the country crooner will sweep you off your feet at places like Tootsie’s, Robert’s Western World or Station Inn.

The rocker will blow you away at places like Mercy Lounge, The 5 Spot, Exit/In or 12th & Porter. We've also noticed in our visits that Nashville is a drinking town with a music problem, so if you need a little liquid courage, head to The Patterson House, No 308 or Holland House for classy cocktails and the chance to meet a real Southern gentleman.

For the low key kind of guy, head to a local watering hole known for a good crowd like 12 South Taproom or Whiskey Kitchen. Whichever way you go, this is our favorite town in the country to meet someone special .

Love nature? The property is located on a former coconut plantation at the foot of El Yunque rainforest, embracing 483 acres of nature reserve. Guests can arrange private “Nature Walks” throughout the property to experience rare birds like the endangered Puerto Rican parrot and exciting indigenous plant life on Bahia Beach.

For foodies, celebrity chef Jean-Georges’ Fern Restaurant offers up the finest fusions of sophisticated fare while the property’s signature Remede Spa highlights local treatments and herbs from the property’s own nursery.

It's privately located off the coast of Puerto Rico on Vieques Island, a destination that literally has no traffic lights but is teaming with beach hopping, nature exploring and the brightest Bioluminescent Bay in Puerto Rico .

With two on-site beaches , complimentary snorkeling gear and delicious picnic basket lunches to take to the beach, it's an amazing adventure for spring break travelers. Guests can enjoy complimentary sun-down cocktails in the property’s “Living Room” and socialize at the fire pit overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.

Located directly on Cable Beach in the Bahamas, this is great for thrill-seeking spring flingseekers — raise your heart rate with dolphin encounters, shark-cave dives , all the way to relaxing scuba diving in the coral reef.

On-property there are seven acres of waterscape with oversized whirlpools directly next to the ocean with a vast array of complimentary non-motorized watersports equipment from kayaks and floating trampolines to paddleboards. Guests can enjoy Caribbean-infused cocktails all throughout the property, whether at the swim-up bar or the property’s signature Telegraph Bar.

Enjoy delicious food from Argent Raw Bar, take in the views at Chicago’s only year-round rooftop Vertigo Sky Lounge or unwind at spa at the dana all under one roof at the dana hotel and spa. Live out lavish dreams or let your hair down with special packages from the dana hotel.

The “I am dana” package gives affluent guests the opportunity to rent the entire hotel complete with a full staff and spa services. For those who simply want a break from the daily routine, the “I am social” package gives guests a Swedish massage before sending them to Chicago’s premier rooftop patio, Vertigo Sky Lounge, to dance the night away with sounds from one of the city’s hottest DJs. The hotel also offers “I am romantic” packages that cater to both men and women for a loving and relaxing experience for you and your spring fling.

This new resort, opening May 2013, is going to be steamy — the first Sandos resort in Los Cabos and its fourth in Mexico, operating under the brand’s “blue” category. Prior to this spot being renovated and reopened as a Sandos property, it was the place where Keith Richards and Patti Hansen got hitched in 1983 — you don't get more spring fling cred than that!

Maybe your spring fling won't be all about surf and sand. It may just be somewhere quiet to canoodle. Trumbull is a town in Fairfield County, Connecticut just far enough away from urban life to give you the peace and quiet you crave. The location is a quick train ride from New York City and you can see the casinos and college excitements of Connecticut.
