The two were married last April. In November, her leg was amputated. Though she doesn't give the exact reason for the split, she did release a statement to People:
After the decision was made to amputate my leg in November, I found myself having to make an even more painful choice — to separate from my husband Pete. Over the last several months I've come to realize that going through such a horrific event together put a fast-forward on our relationship that we each handled differently.

Heartbreaking, right?
We always root for couples who found love in horrible circumstances, but maybe Gregory has a point, too. Maybe love like that isn't real. The two had only been together about a year when the bomb went off and shattered their lives. These circumstances were horrible. The most extreme they could possibly be. And of course they bonded.
The same can also be said about people who fall in love in ridiculously good situations as well. Especially when they don't model real life. After all, look at shows like The Bachelor or any marriage that is formed in extraordinary circumstances. Maybe the trick to finding the "one" is finding the person you can sit in your PJs with late at night, fight over the last of the ice cream with, and have a terribly ordinary time with.
It's not clear what really broke up this marriage. There are probably many factors, as there always are. But Gregory is certainly right about the way the beginnings of our relationship end up affecting the whole thing. My heart really goes out to this couple and I hope that they are both able to find the love they so richly deserve.
Gregory has a special spirit and I am sure true love will follow.
