Themed weddings in general tend to get a bad rap because couples almost always go over the top with it. That is exactly why Jennifer and Joshua's wedding was so awesome — they went with a bold theme, but kept it reeled in so it was more of a highlight rather than the dominating force behind the occasion (pun intended). The wedding was set at loftSeven in Los Angeles, which is a modern, blank canvas of a venue; perfect for couples who know how to infuse a space with their own personal touches. And that's just what this couple did — they kept everything simple and elegant for the most part, with just a few Star Wars-inspired dashes thrown in as icing on the cake (literally). Here are some pictures to give you a sense of just how nerdy-cool this couple's wedding turned out:
The bride's wedding sash is Storm Trooper chic.
Naturally, seating cards and tables had names like Droid, Rebel and Grand Moff.
The bride and groom's chairs were aptly labeled as well.

And of course the lovely, understated wedding cake was strewn with a fallen X-wing and Millennium Falcon.
The kicker is the wedding's theme was the bride's idea! Jennifer told Green Wedding Shoes: "From the moment we started planning, my now-husband and I decided that we wanted our wedding to be intimate, fun and a reflection of who we are as a couple. In terms of the details and decor, we tried to create an atmosphere that was whimsical, romantic and modern. Since I’m a lifelong Star Wars fan, I knew I had to incorporate my fandom into some of the wedding details. The cherry on top for both of us was getting Stormtroopers from the 501st Legion to be a part of the wedding. It was an absolute dream come true!"
If you think this couple is the only one hitting the themed wedding out of the park, think again! Here are a few more examples of brides and grooms who embrace the nerd within, but in a totally classy, adult way.
1. The Harry Potter wedding

Love Harry Potter, but think having all your groomsmen ride in on brooms is tacky? Then check out how Meredith and Joshua totally captured the magic of the story without making their guests want to perform the "obliviate" spell on themselves to forget the occasion. See what I did there?
2. Game of Thrones wedding

OK, so this one may be a tad over the top, but I couldn't help putting it in here because it's Game of Thrones, and any wedding emulating it is awesome by default. Plus those are totally real sets of armor, which in my book is super classy. But if this wedding went the way of any of the ones on the show, I may have to reevaluate my answer.
3. Doctor Who wedding

No one can look at this Doctor Who-inspired food spread and think, "That's not classy." While I have yet to watch Doctor Who (I know, I know, I'm on it), this buffet table makes me want to get into that phone booth right now. What makes this work is how the cobalt blue perfectly complements the bridal white. It just screams Royal Navy. Or the Greek flag, whichever seems fancier to you.
